My New Ride

Here are a couple of pics of my new bike! I picked up Friday from Jack and Adams. It is a 2008 Quintana Roo Seduza. I've only been able to take it out on a couple of 30 minute rides, but so far I'm loving it! It handles so much better than my old bike. It didn't take me much time to get used to the bar end shifters. And I got a sweet year end deal on it. The final price ended up being less than the low end of my price range.
There are only two cons. Both are related to the frame size.
  1. It doesn't fit on my hitch mount bike rack. I have to squeeze the arms together to get the frame on it. This won't usually be a problem. I normally throw it in the back of my car. I have an idea to get around this for when I need to transport multiple bikes.
  2. Water bottles. I only have 1 on there and as you can see, it doesn't have much clearance. I'll put a second cage on it, but it will probably only fit a small bottle. My old bike has a bottle holder that mounts on the seat stem. I may have to get an equivalent for this bike. The seat stem is a different shape, so I'll have to get the bracket system that attaches to the seat.

That brings my bike count to 4. They are:

  • The QR above.
  • The 'Yellow Bike' or my 'ACL Bike'. It is a yellow Specialized hybrid that I was holding onto for a friend that went to school in Australia. She just married an Aussie, so now the bike is mine! It is a good bike to ride around town. I use it to ride to ACL or to the start of the hash when it is at High Beams. I also rode it all around the recent San Antonio marathon course in support of the hubby.
  • Trek 1600 road bike. My 'old' bike. It has a nice pair of carbon aerobars. It has been very good to me and we have ridden many miles together. It will now reside in my bike trainer permanently. If that doesn't work out, I may try to sell it before Danskin season. It would be a great bike for a beginner.
  • My mountain bike, which is a Novara Bonita from REI. It doesn't get much use. I'm a 'fraidy cat. I'm going to start a beginner mountain bike class this week to see if I can improve my skills.
